Vote Yes on Prop. 5

This website is currently undergoing revisions for 2024. (First draft 7/16)

With our state’s resources, we know all families should earn a living wage and live in safety and shelter. We’re unified under the belief that prosperity should be enjoyed by the many, not the few. This is the California Way.

At a time when a majority of Californians are one accident away from homelessness or hardship, working people have built on recent victories to improve the services we use every day. But big corporations like Walmart or the Realtors’ Association are spending millions to try and stop us.

Now is the time to go all-in. By voting YES on 5, we choose the policies that repair leaky roofs in our schools, provide jobs for our communities, fund the roads and bridges to improve our daily commute, and protect the air we breathe.

Progress doesn’t happen all at once, but if we make even a little time, we can deliver for our families and our community. Join us in Voting Yes on Proposition 5 at the November 5, 2024 Presidential Elections.

What does Proposition 5 do?

Currently, for a city to borrow bonds to invest in affordable housing, two-thirds of voters (almost 67%) must vote in support to allow it. Often, these ballot measures fail to pass.

With Prop 5, this process would require 55% of voter support instead. This would apply to cities and counties for bonds that are meant for affordable housing, roads, and other infrastructure projects.
